Goodbye Mac SE

The family has decided to do some house cleaning. Finally we started last night. We attached the closet in the guest bedroom. Threw out most of the stuff in there we do not use. I did my share by pitching an old Macintosh computer. Little Kat protested, thinking the thing was worth some money. I doubt it. He said he could keep it in his closet. Unfortunately Little Kat has his own old Mac which he never uses.

The Mac I disposed of was the Macintosh SE. It was made int he 1980s. I used one of them at my first job. About 10 or 15 years ago, I found out a guy was selling one. So me and my buddy went down to check it out. He had all the accessories for it. He also packed it in a custom carrying case. I shelled out about $100 for it. The carrying case itself cost more than that.

The Mac SE was an all-in-one computer. The monitor was built in. But it was a small 9 inch black and white monitor. I don't think this computer could go on the Internet. I liked it because there were some computer games I played in college that would only run on old Macs like this. I have not booted the machine up in over 5 years. It was time for it to go.

Christmas Time

The family stayed up very late on Christmas Eve. This was why nobody was awake Christmas morning until after 10:00am. Very unusual. There was an abundance of gifts under the tree. The main gift this year was the Xbox 360 Kinect that Momoko got for the whole family.

We knew the Kinect was coming. So we asked some peeps to buy us Kinect games. The family is thinking that some of the cash we got for Christmas will go towards new Kinect games.

My family is coming over my house for Christmas dinner. Therefore I decided we should not set up the Xbox Kinect yet. We have a lot of cooking still to do. The cooking has be divided up among the family. In all the commotion, we forgot to eat breakfast. Little Kat and I are getting quite hungry.

App Time

I finally got around to playing some of the apps I downloaded to my iPhone. I thought they would be really good since I chose them from web pages which featured the top iPhone app games. However I found a lot of the games lacking.

Some of the games just did not work well. Fail. Others were complicated or required a lot of my time (Zombie Farm). Goodbye. Then there were some that were hard. I hate it when I can't get past the third screen no matter how hard I try.

There were some gems. One game let's you drop coins to make coins fall out of the front of the machine. I love it and am hooked. They entice you download other games to "earn" more coins. I confess that I downloaded a few games to get my coin fix.

Family Game Night

Today I had to work late. Momoko and the kids were off from school. It was also family game night at home. Little Kat and I voted for Monopoly. Momoko and Kit Kat protested. The flip of the coin gave us Monopoly as the first game.

Nobody wanted to do any property trades with me. Luckily I got a monopoly by myself on the green ones (Pacific Avenue, etc). The rest was just building houses and raking in the rent.

Little Kat did not want to go to bed. Momoko suggested we play the Game of Life. Kit Kat loves this game. Strangely enough we do not have the directions for the game. Little Kat and I were fighting for the win by the end. We both ended up at the millionaire's mansion trying to get some extra life tiles. Little Kat won it all.
