Some Shed Issues

I shopped around a bit for somebody to bring me my shed. Personally I like Home Depot. There is just one problem. They require you to have a location chosen that is flat. My shed needs to go in the back of the yard. And our yard slopes up on that side.

Now I guess I could hire somebody to dig out the back side of the yard. But that sounds expensive. Another idea is to hire some guys that would build the shed right on the hill. But that might also be very costly.

The only option could be to build the shed myself. That might be the most painful option. However it would be exactly what we want. And I could teach Little Kat a thing or two about assembling buildings. We shall see.

Hard Work

This afternoon Little Kat and I worked out in the yard. There was much to do. We cut the grass. Little Kat gathered up all the sticks from the yard. We bagged them up.

Little Kat also used the clippers to get the grass by the mail box and fence. We have a big yard. So it took us a whopping 3 and a half hours to complete the job.

I sent Little Kat to bed early tonight. Tomorrow he must finish up his chores in time for Momoko to return home. Can't let him sleep in tomorrow morning.

Early Fatigue

It was still light out when I got home. Since it is going to rain for the next couple days, I thought it was time to cut the grass. Normally I zip right through our big lawn. But today I found that I had to take a number of breaks.

I just ran out of gas (not the lawnmower). This might be caused by me being out of shape. That is all the more reason to get outside and do some yard work.

For a month or so I had been neglecting to cut the one side of the yard in the back. I took a peek at it today. There was some seriously high grass. I had to cut that too. Now I am broken.

Birthday Celebration

My boss is out of town. In fact, he is out of the country. So I am doing my job and his. Therefore I had to get in early today. The only good thing about getting in early was that I could get a lot done. In the mid day, a lot of people visit and call me for help. So progress is slow.

Since I got such a good head start on the day, I was able to leave a little early. I got home and it was still bright. Whenever this happens, I go out to work in the yard. After a while, Little Kat came out and helped me. Even Mamma Kat came out for some support.

Kit Kat would have helped. But she was getting the house ready for her friends. Two of them are spending the night. Tomorrow we all go camping together. After dinner, Kit Kat and I opened a bunch of gifts we received. I got a number of books, shirts, videos, and other creative gifts. I'm not going to say how old I am. But I am no spring chicken any more.

Lots of Leaves

The leaves have almost all fallen off the trees. And they have landed in our yard. I tried to ignore them. But the two neighbors next to us have raked their leaves. Now our house looks bad.

So I woke up this morning, ate a quick breakfast, and went out to deal with the leaves. They were heavy because they were still wet. It has been raining this week on and off. It took a couple hours just to get started on some of these evil leaves.

Just as I was finishing up, the rain started to pour down. I got drenched. The rain gutters started clogging up. I climbed up the ladder, and scooped out the leaves blocking the downspout. Did I mention that I don't like the rain?

The Fence Guys

Our house has a fence surrounding the back yard. At least part of the back is fenced. But we have many different fences on the different sides. One of them is falling apart. The other got broken by a falling tree. The last one is made of chain link and does not look good.

So I got the fence guy to come out. Actually I had two of them come out. Both of them said a new fence would cost a lot of $$$. They also said they could not find out where the edge of our yard was. For that I would need to hire a surveyor.

I called up one of the surveyors to find out where our yard actually ends and the neighbor's begins. Two cats came out in a pick up truck. They came with some shovels. They found the end points of the property. Then they drove stakes in the ground to mark them. They tied some red flags to the stakes so you can see them from far away. Great. Now I can see we have a huge yard. This is going to take a lot of catnip to pay the fence man.
