Some Shed Issues

I shopped around a bit for somebody to bring me my shed. Personally I like Home Depot. There is just one problem. They require you to have a location chosen that is flat. My shed needs to go in the back of the yard. And our yard slopes up on that side.

Now I guess I could hire somebody to dig out the back side of the yard. But that sounds expensive. Another idea is to hire some guys that would build the shed right on the hill. But that might also be very costly.

The only option could be to build the shed myself. That might be the most painful option. However it would be exactly what we want. And I could teach Little Kat a thing or two about assembling buildings. We shall see.

Driving and More Driving

I tried to wake Momoko up at 10:00am this morning. No luck. Then I tried again at 10:30am. Still no pulse. At 11:00am I decided to try waking Kit Kat. She usually responds to me. It took a while but Kit Kat came out of her room.

Little Kat loves Saturday mornings. He gets up early while the family is asleep. Then he watches TV and whole knows what else downstairs. Kit Kat and I went driving and left Little Kat alone. At least we got him to start some laundry.

Kit Kat drove me to Home Depot. The weather is nice. Everybody was at the store. We parked, switched positions, and decided to go home without going into the store. Kit Kat can drive in traffic now.

Once home I planned to battle the dandelions in the yard. However Kit Kat needed to study with her friends. So I let her drive my car over to her friend's house. Then I drove back home alone. By then it was too late to pull dandelions. I had company over this afternoon. Before company came, I got eBay to restore my account. Then I placed a bid for a texting cell phone. Little Kat are you reading this???

Dandelion Revenge

Today I picked up Little Kat from school. We went to Petco and bought some gerbil food. By the time we got home, we saw Kit Kat walking in the house. I picked up Kit Kat. Then I told her to drive me to Home Depot.

As usual Kit Kat tried to resist. But we got to push her. She drove through some heavy traffic. She says the cars we on all four sides of her. And they were.

At Home Depot, I purchased some products to improve our lawn. I got 2 tools to pull up dandelions. Then I got some Weed B Gone to keep them away. Also got Kit Kat some purple work gloves. Finally I got some Turf Builder to keep the grass green.

Now I have started pulling up those darn dandelions. Too bad I got company coming over tomorrow and this weekend. They are going to see a lot of lawn work in progress.

Back to the Yard Work

Momoko and Kit Kat left me at home with Little Kat today. So I decided we would get out in the severe heat and do some yard work.

We drove down to the local Home Depot. There was only one plant worth buying there. They did not have everything we needed. Next time we will hit Lowes.

Little Kat prepped our white fence for painting. Then he started the long job of cutting the vines out of our chain link fence.

I pulled a lot of weeds. Then I went to the part of our property that is behind our fence. I hauled a bunch of fallen trees out to the edge of our land. This was some tough work. Little Kat and I made sure to stay hydrated. We also took a lot of breaks. Tomorrow we head out again to battle nature and the yard.

Hard Work

We got our new "jumbo" freezer up and running. I left the old freezer out on the patio today. It needed to thaw out. Since it did not have a built in defroster, there were layers of ice caked up in there. By the end of the day, all the ice had melt. After work I scrubbed the thing down with 409. Mamma Kat needed the freezer for a special project at work. I figured it should look good.

I noticed the cats working out in the garden. That was strange. There were just a bunch of weeds in there. Mamma Kat then said we needed to go buy some fruits and vegetables to plant in there. I had to first cut the grass as I did not finish the job this weekend. Then I was tired, but we still went to Home Depot.

First we loaded up on topsoil and mulch. Then we let the cats pick out the fruits and vegetables they wanted. Both of them got some herbs. Little Kat was proud to have picked out corn. I think both of them got some melons too. When we got home, the cats went out, worked in the new soil, and planted away. Mamma Kat is going to be tending to the garden this summer. She will water it every day. Maybe we will get some really good veggies out of this. That's the plan according to Little Kat.

Washing Machine Blues

This weekend I worked with Little Kat to see if bleach could get the black out of my clothes. Recall that a crayon left in the dryer made my clothes have spots. Well Little Kat could not wash out the stains. And neither could the bleach.

Here's where I ran into even more trauma. After putting the bleach in my whites, and letting them set, I ran the load of whites in the washing machine. My clothes did not clean. I'm not talking about the black stains. I mean there was dirt on the clothes after washing. A rewash did not help.

Today after work Mamma Kat talked me into going shopping for a new washing machine. I like the Home Depot. At first we thought we might try one of these newer front load washers. However we found a standard top load washer that was huge. We had a lot of questions about the machine.

Mamma Kat got mad because we could not get anybody to help us in the appliances section. When the "appliance guy" came, he confessed he was actually from kitchens, and did not know much about appliances. Neither did anybody else. My plan is to return tomorrow to see if we can find an appliance salesman in the store. Otherwise its off to Lowes or Sears.

Microwave Blues

Yesterday Kit Kat and Little Kat told me our microwave broke. I had them do some checks, and indeed it seemed dead.

Last night I stayed up late studying for a test I am going to take in two weeks. So I did not want to get out of bed this morning.

Mamma Kat kept telling me we needed to go buy a new microwave. I don't know why I need to go. You just select one and pick it up. Besides, we have a working microwave in the basement.

After being pulled out of bed this morning, we went to Best Buy to get the microwave. I like them for electronics. However I was disturbed to find out the local Best Buy was out of business. Ouch. Luckily there was a Home Depot next door that was happy to sell us a microwave and some other goodies for the house.
