The Fall Risk: A Short Story

Charlotte dated a guy that became her stalker. She is on the run. She moves into an apartment across from Seth. They find themselves stranded when a construction crew removes the stairway down to the ground level. They spend a weekend getting to know each other.

Seth is a plant and tree guy. He has an injury to his leg and wears a cast. He is really good looking. Charlotte has been taking self-defense classes from her new best friend. She has a firearm. She knows martial arts. And she knows how to use other weapons.

A neighbor downstairs posts a video of the two main characters. Charlotte's stalker ex sees it and comes for Charlotte with a box cutter knife. Charlotte is ready with a baseball bat that has a sock on the end. When she swings, her ex grabs the bat. But all he gets is the sock. Charlotte uses the bat to break both of his legs.

Months later, Charlotte moves in with Seth. Her best friend takes over her apartment. The neighbor caught the beat down on video, and it has gone viral online.
