Microwave Blues

Yesterday Kit Kat and Little Kat told me our microwave broke. I had them do some checks, and indeed it seemed dead.

Last night I stayed up late studying for a test I am going to take in two weeks. So I did not want to get out of bed this morning.

Mamma Kat kept telling me we needed to go buy a new microwave. I don't know why I need to go. You just select one and pick it up. Besides, we have a working microwave in the basement.

After being pulled out of bed this morning, we went to Best Buy to get the microwave. I like them for electronics. However I was disturbed to find out the local Best Buy was out of business. Ouch. Luckily there was a Home Depot next door that was happy to sell us a microwave and some other goodies for the house.

School Rules!

I have been working very hard lately and I know I have not had as much time to blog as I would like. I just completed my Physics I class and all that hard work payed off because I got an A! I should finish up my Physics II class right before Spring Break.

There will be no time to party because I will have a class starting in April and by the end of the summer I will have a total of 3 more completed!

I get to share my newly acquired science knowledge with my current 5th grade class. We just started a unit on Physical Science. I have been doing a lot of hands on experiments to help them with some of the difficult concepts.

Today we built molecules with colored mini marshmallows and toothpicks. Talk about edible ideas.

Next year, I plan on teaching 7th grade Science. Science all day everyday~ MEEEOOOOWWW
I cannot believe I get paid to have this kind of fun!!!

Door Unhinged

I called Mamma Kat to say I was on the way home. She was off to school. But kids told her a door in the house had come off its hinges. This was a job for Black of Cat.

I had Kit Kat show me the problem. The screws in the top hinge kept coming out of the wall. I put some anchors in the wall, screwed the hinge in the anchors, and the door was good as new.

After that I took Little Kat to Family Fun night at his school. He had to work there because he is a patrol. He did not get to have any fun. I explained to him that work is usually not fun. It is work.

Beware of the Skit

Today the family went to a scout meeting for Little Kat. They served dinner there. We ate chili dogs. There were three types of chili to choose from. Little Kat had a little of each kind on his dogs.

Little Kat carried one of the flags to start and end the meeting. The meeting lasted a whopping hour and forty minutes. Little Kat was sweating it because he had to perform a skit with another cat.

We had guests from the fire department and police. They talked a long time. Little Kat was happy. That meant there was no time for him to perform his skit. The best part of the night was that they had cheese curls there!

Cookie Time

Little Kat watched his new favorite show "Sunny With a Chance" tonight. However he found time to bake us some cookies. He chose some peanut butter ones.

It seems Little Kat is starting to grow up. He can cook stuff by himself. He knows how to read and follow directions. Many times his food turns out the best of the family.

When Little Kat asked me if I wanted some cookies, I said, "Awww yesh." I can't pass up warm baked cookies on a cold night.

Where are the Cheese Curls?

Mamma Kat went to the grocery store recently. She came back with a huge bag of cheese puffs. I felt safe because Kit Kat has her own cheese curls for people with braces. But I still grabbed a bowl full right after Mamma Kat got home.

Today I had some McDonald's for dinner. I did not get any fries with my order. That was a bad move. I was still hungry after dinner. So I decided to eat some more cheese puffs. The bag was missing.

I asked around where the bag of cheese curls may be. Little Kat came up with the empty bag. He blamed Mamma Kat for finishing them off. Next time we are going to need 2 bags from the grocery store. And I will have to lock up one of them. You know what I mean?

Sick Day

Well, yesterday was quite a busy day for the kat klan. It all started innocently enough. I had to leave work a little early so that I could pick up Kit from school and take her to a doctor's appointment. On my way to pick her up, Junior, our family kat kar, got sick. His check engine light went on. I had to decide what to do. I was only a block or two from Kit's school and Junior was not dead, so I drove the rest of the way. I checked Junior's instruction booklet, wouldn't it be nice if kittens came with this feature, and it seemed the problem could be as simple as not tightening the gas cap tight enough or something more serious, but Kit's appointment was only a few blocks away so I decided to chance it and drive to the doctor's office. I had to schedule this appointment 6 months in advance. We made it safely but I rely a lot of Junior so I had to make sure he was ok. I did not want to risk making him sicker so I called the kar doctor and he suggested a good ambulance service to use. I arranged for a pickup but I was told it would take 90 minutes before they could get to me and the kittens. By now, it was a time issue because the kar doctor would be closing soon and without Junior, the kittens and I would be stranded across town with no way to get home...sniff sniff. So I did what any stranded kat would do, I called Black. He was a hero, as usual, he arranged for a ride to pick us up so we made it home safely. Junior made it to the kar doctor and I decided to stay home today to wait for the results of what is wrong. I hope he is feeling better because I have class this evening!

The 5 Shelf Bookcase

Our kitchen is starting to get a little crowded. We have a lot of little appliances. For example we have a new George Foreman grill. We also have contraptions like a machine that extracts the yoke of an egg. There is little counter space to put all these items.

Mamma Kat decided that we needed something to hold all our small appliances. The plan is for us to replace our microwave cart with a tall bookshelf. Only this shelf shall not hold any books. It will hold appliances.

A week ago I placed an order for a 5 shelf bookshelf from Target. Mamma Kat had picked it out. I had Target ship it to use. When I came home on Friday, I saw a tall box standing in our carport. I knew our shelf had arrived.

Kit Kat and Little Kat are in charge of assembling the shelf. Kit Kat is reading the instructions and directing. Little Kat is screwing the thing together. Mamma Kat is supervising so the cats don't fight too much. After that we plan to play some games tonight.

The Power of Push

I got up early this morning even though it is the weekend. Mamma Kat got me some breakfast. Somehow I got hooked on watching a movie called Persepolis. It was about a girl growing up in Iran during the 1980s.

The movie almost got me in trouble. Mamma Kat wanted to take the family to the show for Valentine's day. I did not want to stop watching the movie I was watching on TV. Mamma Kat informed me that we can watch this movie any time with cable on demand.

So the family went out to see Push at the movie theater. Everybody brought their own money to buy snacks. Mamma Kat always gets a Cherry Coke. Little Kat and Kit Kat got some candy and a drink each. Me I just drank some water. Push was a complex movie. My favorite characters were the screamers. They were the bad guys, but were very amusing.

Some Like it Hot

Today we took Mamma Kat out to eat. We went to one of her favorite restaurants. It is actually a pub. But the upstairs is a restaurant. Mamma ordered her favorite crab dip as a meal.

Lil Kat wondered what the dip tasted like. So he and I split another order of the crab dip. It tasted best with their fresh baked bread.

Strangely enough, both Lil Kat and I ordered same dish. We had this salad that had a lot of goodies in it. There was some hard boiled egg. There were generous strips of chicken in it. It was topic with bacon.

Kit Kat ordered "Diablo Chicken". She did not pay attention to the crucial ingredient - crushed red pepper. She tried eating the spicy meal. After eating a few bites, and drinking a couple sodas to cool down, we switched her meal to a salad like me and Lil Kat.

Quiz and Test

I attend a community college class on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Today class night. After work I dropped by the house. Kit Kat was sleeping. I did some errands. Then I drove to class.

The instructor seemed to rush through his presentation. I asked a few questions. One other cat asked a question too. We had another hour and a half left. The instructor said that if there were no further questions, we would have a quiz.

This caused a few groans in the class. I get the feeling that the students are not studying. Next Thursday is our first test. This must have been the wake up call to get students serious about studying. Good luck to all the school cats.

Show on Saturday

Little Kat seemed excited every time we saw an ad for the movie Coraline. So this Saturday we all got up early. We drove down south to go see the show. There was only one place showing the film in the morning. I always have my bro cat come over the house Saturday afternoon. So we needed to watch the movie early.

It was a treat to find that the matinee price was 5 bucks. Our normal theater charges 8 bucks for matinee. The theater was fine, proving stadium seating for us to enjoy. We loaded up with concessions like nachos and a hot dog. Little Kat was puzzled that the theater seemed empty. The movie just came out yesterday. I guess the other cats were sleeping in.

The movie was great. The only disappointment to Little Kat was that it was not in 3D. Afterwards we walked through the mall and ordered a pizza to go. Mamma Kat likes pepperoni. The other cats like cheese. This might be the start of a new tradition for our family - going to the show on Saturday morning.

The Return of Black Cat

Ok people. I know that I have been out of sight for a while. Or more specifically, I have not written a blog post for quite some time. We have had a tough time at work. A lot of our programs were not working. I had to work all night once. Last week I stayed until midnight another time.

Hopefully all of that is over. I complained to the big cats. They responded by hiring one new person for our team. And it looks like we are going to get another person some time in the future. This is hard because it is tough to find good cats. But we are trying.

In home news, we got a new refrigerator delivered. It is one that has French style doors on the fridge that open right and left. It makes for a lot more room in the fridge. Guess what color we chose? Yes. It is black. The only drawback is that it produces ice cubes, but not crushed ice. I can live with that. Until next time...

LOOK AT ME!

Christmas in February

It was Christmas all over again on Sunday. We used our Christmas Movie Gift Cards to see an actual movie. This was a great gift for use because we were able to go as a family and we got to pick the movie we wanted to see. The kittens wanted to see "Hotel for Dogs" but that sounded too scary for us cats so we saw "Ink Heart" instead. I think we all enjoyed the flick. After the show, Black decided to take us to a really nice Chinese Food Restaurant. It was MMMM MMMMM GOOD!!!
