Cards Anyone!

Well, everyone has been really busy lately but when we can all get together we like to play family games.

We have been trying to play more educational games to help the kittens with math and strategy skills.

Yesterday, we played Uno and Monopoly Card Game, so I guess you can say we played for fun instead of education.

We started playing late so Little Kat had to go to bed after an hour or so. (He needs his rest or he is a grumpy one). I really love spending time with the family playing games.

Stick To It!

Little Kat started out in Cat Scouts when he was just a Tiger Cub. In Cat Scouts, the boys make pinewood derby race cars out of a block of wood. Little Kat has always been a creative one. I think he is more concerned about how the car looks then how it races. This year he decided to do his car all by himself without any adult supervision. I told him is not allowed to use any sawing or cutting tools. Well, he finished his car yesterday and I will have to take a picture of it to post online. He made a stick of butter car! I think he will call it the "Butter Mobile". Well, it looks great and I hope it does well in the race tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

Snow Day

Well, having a day off can be fun but knowing you will have to make it up later always makes a snow day a little bitter sweet. We were blanketed in snow and ice yesterday and today the kittens and I had a day off. I got up early (when Black left for work) and made sure the kittens got up too. Poor Black spent a long time scrapping the ice from his ride. Little Kat wanted to play outside and kept bugging Kit until she finally gave in. They played outside for about an hour before Kit came inside to warm up. Little had made arrangements with a friend to go back out later. He played until the temperatures warmed up enough to make the precipitation change into rain. He looked like a drown cat when he finally came inside. The kittens warmed up and we watched movies until Black got home. We were able to get in a little family game time before Little had to go to bed. So, I would say we had a pretty good snow day. Tomorrow will be a two hour delay and the kittens are off school on Friday. Looks like there is not much left in this week!

Power Failure

This morning I awoke and knew something was wrong. There were no numbers displayed on my digital clock. It took a while in my dazed state to realize that the power had gone off in the house.

I did my best to get ready in the dark. At least there was still some hot water available. I called up the power company. They said somebody already called in the problem. As I opened the front door, I saw the utility guy working in the street.

Still I was not sure when we would get power back. The electric company said it might be a couple hours. To me that meant they did not know how long it would take to fix. I was glad to see our lights on when Little Kat and I returned home in the afternoon.

TV Converter Box

Next month, they are going to stop broadcasting analog TV signals. That means normal TVs with antennas will not be able to display the signals any more. Now this should not affect our family. We have a lot of TVs. However they are all connected to cable right now. Cable takes care of this for us.

We would like to be a prepared family though. A few months ago I applied for some TV Converter Box coupons. They are provided by the government. They give you $40 each towards the purchase of a TV Converter Box. This box will convert the new signals to work on your existing TV.

There is only one problem. I never went out and bought the converter boxes. My coupons are about to expire this Friday. I need to get to the store and buy my boxes. Otherwise I will be throwing my $80 worth of coupons away. You never know when you will need a TV Converter Box.
