Weird Trash Pickup

Yesterday we had scheduled to have bulky trash pickup to get our "appliances". I heard the truck arrive and looked out the window. The guys had a truck that did most of the work. The truck had a platform that lowered to the ground. They pushed the appliances on the platform. Then the platform rose and pulled the appliances into the back of the truck.

One of the trash guys dropped down to the ground. I thought he might be looking under the truck. Nope. He proceeded to do some push ups on the ground. He crossed his legs for extra difficulty. I guess that's what happens when you have a truck that does all the lifting for you.

Today the guys came to collect the rest of the bulky trash. They started out fine. However they did not exercise enough care when putting our huge TV into the truck. The thing got crushed with glass flying out the back of the truck. I had to go out in the rain afterwards to pick up all the glass pieces. I was still glad that all our bulky trash is gone.

Bulky Problem

I tried hard to finish up work on time today. It was tough, since I had some loose ends to tie. Got done at an average time. Then I got dressed for outdoor work and headed to the store. Needed to pick up some materials for the yard. Got some grass seed and dirt with fertilizer in it. Purchased a replacement pot for the rose plant on the back patio. And so on.

When I got home, I stepped inside to grab a drink and get the keys to the shed. Momoko was on the phone. But she told me our bulky trash pickup was scheduled for tomorrow and the day after. We have been accumulating lots of large items that I just stored behind our shed. Now it was time to bring them to the curb.

Appliances get picked up tomorrow. The rest gets picked up Wednesday. But what is an appliance? Dishwasher is. But what about a microwave or air conditioner? I placed the items as I saw fit, grouping them by type. Momoko and the kids helped. The dolly came in handy. Now I am all broken. Let's hope the bulky trash pickup people actually come.

Weekend Start

This morning I woke up and called Momoko. She needed a freezer and fridge delivered to her work. And I am the guy with the pickup truck. Before work I headed over there to make the delivery. Momoko told me I could park in the reserved spot at her work. Then I was off to my own work.

I was planning an early departure from work. Of course the customer came calling in the afternoon. I called my team leader. He got the boss on the phone. We were supposed to talk about the customer problems. However the boss wanted to spend a lot of time talking about the whole team's work.

Well I excused myself from that conversation and hauled out of work. I went to the theater to meet Momoko and the children. They were nowhere to be found. I called them up, and they were on the way. We say The Vampire's Assistant. Good stuff. Now Kit Kat is off with her friends at a pre-Halloween party. Time for Little Kat to fry us up some dinner.

Washing Machine Blues

This weekend I worked with Little Kat to see if bleach could get the black out of my clothes. Recall that a crayon left in the dryer made my clothes have spots. Well Little Kat could not wash out the stains. And neither could the bleach.

Here's where I ran into even more trauma. After putting the bleach in my whites, and letting them set, I ran the load of whites in the washing machine. My clothes did not clean. I'm not talking about the black stains. I mean there was dirt on the clothes after washing. A rewash did not help.

Today after work Mamma Kat talked me into going shopping for a new washing machine. I like the Home Depot. At first we thought we might try one of these newer front load washers. However we found a standard top load washer that was huge. We had a lot of questions about the machine.

Mamma Kat got mad because we could not get anybody to help us in the appliances section. When the "appliance guy" came, he confessed he was actually from kitchens, and did not know much about appliances. Neither did anybody else. My plan is to return tomorrow to see if we can find an appliance salesman in the store. Otherwise its off to Lowes or Sears.

The 5 Shelf Bookcase

Our kitchen is starting to get a little crowded. We have a lot of little appliances. For example we have a new George Foreman grill. We also have contraptions like a machine that extracts the yoke of an egg. There is little counter space to put all these items.

Mamma Kat decided that we needed something to hold all our small appliances. The plan is for us to replace our microwave cart with a tall bookshelf. Only this shelf shall not hold any books. It will hold appliances.

A week ago I placed an order for a 5 shelf bookshelf from Target. Mamma Kat had picked it out. I had Target ship it to use. When I came home on Friday, I saw a tall box standing in our carport. I knew our shelf had arrived.

Kit Kat and Little Kat are in charge of assembling the shelf. Kit Kat is reading the instructions and directing. Little Kat is screwing the thing together. Mamma Kat is supervising so the cats don't fight too much. After that we plan to play some games tonight.
