Dinner and Couches

Yesterday I worked from home. There were some big problems at work. I thought my dinner plans might be in jeopardy. We got lucky. For dinner I headed down into town. I drove around for a while to find a parking space. Eventually I gave up and paid for garage parking. The company sponsored a dinner to celebrate our work last year.

Today I also worked from home. Momoko and the kids were off from school. They all slept in. I got up early to get working. First order of business was to get the dishwasher repaired. It was a small latch change. But the guy seemed to have a tough time for the job. Then I finished up my work and tried to stay away for the couch delivery guys. They were coming in the late afternoon or evening. I saw the truck drive up so I opened up our front double doors.

One Hercules delivery guy carried the couches to the front door. Bamm. He did have a helper navigate the couches into our living room. They each have a lot of cushion. Both are black leather to match the black recliners. We are still figuring out how to arrange everything in here. I spent a lot of time breaking down all the cardboard and bagging all the plastic that came with the couches. I hope these bad boys last us until Little Kat goes to college.

Power Outage

The power was fluctuating yesterday afternoon. We cooked and ate dinner early just in case. That turned out to be a smart idea. We lost power in the evening. The kids brought out the candles. I went to bed early because power or not, I had to go to work the next day.

The power was out all night. And it snowed. I got up real early. I shoveled a path down the driveway. Then I dug out my car from the damage the snow plow did. It took a long time. The rest of the family was asleep because school was cancelled.

Finally I got the car out. I rewarded myself with a McDonald's breakfast. During lunch I bought a couple bags of rock salt. After lunch, Kit Kat called and said the power finally came back on. Momoko pumped the heat up about 10 degrees higher than normal. We needed it.

BBQ Dinner

We spent the afternoon at the mall today. It was very crowded there. I felt like we got the last two spots in the parking lot. The kids had gift cards and money from Christmas. They wanted to spend.

Little Kat and I checked out a weight bench on sale with some weights. Looked ok. But they were out of stock. Try again later. After the mall we returned home to deal with dinner. We deliberated over a restaurant that everyone would enjoy. And the choice was Famous Dave's BBQ.

We got seated immediately at a big table. Little Kat was most interested in all the BBQ sauces they give you. Everyone chose meals that came with corn on the cob, muffins, and two sides. Nobody left hungry. The favorite sauce was some type of Sassy Southern sauce. I usually like really hot sauce. But the saucy BBQ sauce was indeed superior.

Little Rat Emerges

Today we played tennis as a family to make up for skipping it yesterday. It got dark real quick. Afterwards Little Kat and I separated from Kit Kat and Momoko. Little Kat and I went on a mission. We spied on a Thanksgiving day sale at Sears. They got big screen TVs for super low prices.

Turns out they don't have many TVs at the low price. After the shopping, Little Kat and I needed to get some dinner. We started heading North towards Sonic. However Little Kat said was too hungry to wait during the long drive to Sonic. We instead ate at a New Orleans style restaurant. We ordered a pasta spinach dip appetizer, along with an order of fried pickles
.
During dinner Little Kat saw his reflection in the mirror behind him. He confessed that he has an alter ego inside him that is bad. This version of him is called Little Rat. The Little Kat that we know is the good version of him. Although this all sounds a bit suspicious, it also kind of makes some sense. Got to keep an eye out for the Little Rat.

Daylight Savings

Today I rushed home from work and found that everybody was already home. Great. We can go to tennis early right? No luck. People needed to eat a snack first. I still wanted to get out there early because of Daylight Savings Time. We run out of sunlight much earlier now.

Well we did get to tennis a bit early. There was nobody else there at the tennis court. We all did a lot of running to catch the balls. This tired everybody out fast. Momoko took a break, returned, and voted for us to go home. What? We were supposed to be there for exercise.

I talked everyone into playing one last set of tennis. However that did not last long. At least we get home early for dinner. Kit Kat is cooking brats. Good stuff.

Back to School Night

Tonight was back to school night. That is when parents are invited to come to their children's schools. Momoko had to be at school to host back to school night for her students. I decided to go see Little Kat's teachers. My plan was to go to dinner early with Little Kat. Then we would head over to his school.

Unfortunately Little Kat did not come home from school very promptly. Then Momoko had some trouble getting her dinner prepared. That meant Little Kat and I had to pick up dinner for Momoko. This left no time for Little Kat and I to eat at a restaurant. We settled for some fast food.

When I got to back to school night, it was disturbing that Little Kat does not have a permanent home room teacher yet. They are still using a substitute. The actual teacher has been hired, but is still relocating to the area. I was disturbed that one of Little Kat's friends was running wild all night. The friend refused to stay with their parent through the night. Kids running wild I tell ya. Luckily there was no way Little Kat was going to pull any such nonsense with me. We both went to each of his teachers' classrooms. I met them all (except the one who has not started yet).

Happy Birthday Dad

I got off work on time again today. Went to visit my dad and wish him a happy birthday. I got him a picture book called Cars of the 1940s. Now I don't think dad is old enough to have had a car from the 1940s. But he does remember them. I think one of my uncles had a 1940s car. And he let dad drive it all the time.

Momoko had told me that Little Kat was coming home from his friend's house today. So I hurried home after visiting my dad. Strangely enough, I found nobody at home. There were a lot of messages on the answering machine for me though. Momoko and the kids went to her school to work on her classroom. They are staying late. That means I need to fend for myself at dinner time. I started out with a nap. Then I decided to get some Dominos carryout. They had a special where you could add cheesy bread and a 2 liter drink for five bucks. I'm in.

Hungry Cat

I came home from work and took care of some chores. Took out the trash. Deal with the laundry. After I changed my clothes, I took a nap. Then I woke up hungry. Came downstairs about 10 minutes before dinnner.

Momoko was on the computer. I asked her if dinner was ready. It had not even been started. Whuuut? I later found out what the problem was. Momoko had joined FaceBook.

Now I need to keep an eye out to make sure Momoko stays on task. Sheesh.

Easter Plans

I invited my parents over to our house for Easter next Sunday. Kit Kat will make us a nice dinner. There was just one problem. Where would everybody sit? Momoko wanted us all at one table. Our dinner table sits 4 comfortably.

We have a table with folding legs downstairs. So we brought it upstairs. However it only seats 4 as well. Momoko wanted to somehow extend this table to seat the required 7.

That's when Momoko came up with the great idea. We could buy a small card table to sit at the end of our table. Her old car used to have such a table built into the back. But she sold it. Kit Kat and I went off to Wally World in the truck to buy a table.

There was a bonus surprise at Walmart. The table we found came with 4 chairs. Little Kat was impressed that the folding chairs actually had padded seat. The box with the new table was too big to bring in the side entrance to the house. We had to open up the double doors at the front entry. Once unpacked, we found it to be the perfect supplement to our existing folding table. Easter dinner here we come,

Suspicious Cat

I had to work late today. It was strange when I came home. Momoko's car was not in the driveway. I opened the door to the house and heard Little Kat running.

It is always bad news when Little Kat is running. That means he is doing something he is not supposed to. I found that he was watching Pokemon movies on Momoko's laptop.

I asked where everyone was. Apparently Momoko and Kit Kat had to go to the dentist. They left Little Kat alone. Trouble.

Then I inquired who was cooking dinner. Little Kat said he thought Kit Kat was in charge of dinner. This sounded strange. Later Little Kat said he would help Kit Kat by putting her dinner in the oven.

Now that sounded very strange indeed. I told Little Kat that we needed to call Momoko to clarify dinner plans. That is when Little Kat said that he remembered he was supposed to cook dinner. It was definitely time to kill the Pokemon movie. Finally I quizzed Little Kat on the dinner choice. He was going to throw some frozen dinner in the over. Now I wanted some side dishes, so this Little Kat needs a lot of supervision I see...

Let it Snow

The snow came to our area today. At first we were supposed to get 2 inches. It looks more like 6+ inches outside. And it is still snowing.

Kit Kat went to spend the night with some friends from school. Little Kat built two pieces of furniture Momoko got for him. They will sit next to his desk and hold his supplies.

I braved the snow to get dinner for me and my brother. The snow was dry and fluffy. I cleared off my car. When I was done, I ran around the side of my car and took a fall. Luckily I was heavily dressed, so my clothes absorbed the fall.

As soon as Little Kat cleans up from his furniture building operation, we are going to play some Mario Bros on the Wii.

The Return of Kit Kat

Kit Kat got sick Monday night. She stayed home from school the last couple days. It is going to be a huge chore to catch up on homework and tests.

While Kit Kat was down, Little Kat had to pick up the slack. He was our little cook. Then he washed the dishes. It is a hard knock life.

Luckily Kit Kat was feeling a little better tonight. She cooked us some "breakfast for dinner". There was bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Good times.

Momoko is looking to get on a low sodium diet. She plans to start after the next trip to the grocery store. Good luck to her.

Somthing Nasty

When I came home from work, I found out that Momoko and Little Kat would be home really late. That is normally not a problem. But tonight is Little Kat's night to cook. I guess its time to snack until dinner finally arrives.

There was more disturbia at home. I smelled something nasty in the kitchen. For some reason I thought it had to do with Kit Kat cleaning out the fridge. So I had her come down and deal with it. She ended up cleaning the kitchen sink, which had some old food in it.

On a more positive note, I just read the book "Last Night at the Lobster". It was really good. I felt like I was working at Red Lobster. Good stuff indeed.

No Dinner

Tonight Kit Kat has some back to school night function. That means Momoko and her are going to her school. That leaves Little Kat and I alone. Now I figured we would just eat dinner early so everyone could be on their way. No such luck.

I found out that everybody was on their own for dinner tonight. For a while I toyed with the idea of going to the movies for dinner. We do have some free passes due to the technical difficulties the movie theater had last time.

But I figured somebody had to keep an eye on Little Kat. So here I am blogging and hungry. What is a cat to do?

Trip Preparations

Today I was scheduled to drive Kit Kat to a meeting. She is planning to go away for Labor Day weekend. They need to solidify the plan. I made sure I got off from work plenty early to grab dinner before taking Kit Kat to the meeting.

When I got home, Kit Kat told me she needed a compass. You know. That's the thing that let's you draw circles. Well I pulled out my old compass. It was not strong. We decided to go shopping for a new one.

The local pharmacy was no help. They did not have that many school supplies. There was no compass to be found. Luckily the grocery store had a pack of school goods, one of which was a compass. Sold. Even after the shopping, Kit Kat and I were early to the meeting.

I decided to take a drive with Kit Kat to see if we could find an office supply store. No luck on that front. After the drive we waited patiently for Kit Kat's meeting to start.

Dining Out

An old buddy of mine wanted to get together tonight. We decided to eat dinner together at a new restaurant. I came home and informed Momoko that I would not be eating with the family.

Little Kat was scheduled to cook some meatloaf for dinner. However when the family heard I was going out, they decided to go out too. I guess they feel entitled.

It seems they went to some nice place like Red Lobster. I myself went to this new place. It was an upscale restaurant. And it was crowded. Some of the food was quite delicious. They had a lot of weird stuff on the menu. I just made sure I ordered stuff that was not served raw.

Truck Noises

I went to lunch today at a pizza joint. Strangely enough I ordered a meal with all you can eat soup. On the drive back to work, a truck comes up behind me. Then he tries to pass me on the left. He is just not going fast enough. So he drives next to me. It was disturbing. The truck was making all kinds of hissing and grinding noises. I was glad when the trucker pulled off into an exit.

After work, I came home. Little Kat and his friend popped out when I was getting out of my car. They seem to be playing some Pokemon on something. Little Kat's friend told me that as soon as she got home from school, Little Kat knocked on her door. She always seems to make time for Little Kat. I blame this distraction for dinner being late (Little Kat cooked). Luckily the dinner was very delicious.

Going Green

Yesterday Momoko locked herself in Little Kat's room for most of the day. She was painting the walls green. Unfortunately, Momoko herself got a little green. She kept trying to clean the paint off herself. But the paint kept splashing back on her.

When it was time for dinner, Momoko was still painting. I went out to pick something up for us. Traffic was killer as it was still rush hour. However I managed to snag us some good Chinese food.

Later on Momoko and I watched the movie Step Brothers. Personally I thought it was hilarious. Momoko did not think so. How can you not love a movie where the main character says he is "snapping necks and cashing checks"?

A Little Trip

Today I had a tough time getting out of work. But I finally snuck out. Then I printed out some directions to Momoco's hotel. I got Little Kat and Kit Kat in my car. We took a little road trip.

Kit Kat was my navigator. Just as we hit some heavy traffic, Kit Kat directed me to turn off on to another road. We were meeting Momoco for dinner. As we pulled up to her hotel, Kit Kat spotted her.

Momoco had bought us all some chips from a chip making plant she had visited. Kit Kat and I lobbied for dinner at Ruby Tuesday's. Our wish was granted. We could not stay long. It is a work night for Black Cat.

Here Comes the Pizza

Mamma Kat bought us some pizzas tonight for dinner. Kit Kat's scout troup was running some promotion with a local pizza chain. They were going to donate 20% of proceeds if you mention that the troop sent you.

All I know is that they make some delicious pepperoni pizza. I already had a few pieces. Add a little crushed red pepper, and you are good to go.
