Frigidaire A/C and Company Fail

The window unit air conditioning in our master bedroom would not turn on this year. The thing is not that old. Momoko is making due by turning our ceiling fan on high at night, plus leaving the bedroom windows open. This will only take us so far as the temperature increases this season.

I called my handyman. He said he could not repair the unit. But he recommended I call the manufacturer. I called Frigidaire. They said I would get a call back from their back offices in a couple days. Did not happen. I called back again. They said the previous trouble ticket was set up wrong. I was told I would get a prepaid bank card since I ordered the unit online.

Since I was going to be getting a bank card, I went ahead and ordered a replacement A/C unit. Figured I could use the bank card for other things. I did get a call from Frigidaire's back office. They said there was not going to be any bank card. They were going to ship a replacement A/C to a store in a nearby big city. I just need to bring in the defective unit.

What a fail. This company is all mixed up. And they are essentially making my life difficult. I would just prefer for their crappy A/C units to work so I don't have to bother them. But no such luck. I am going to end up with an extra A/C unit since I went ahead and bought a second one.

Perhaps the thing to do would have been to go with another manufacturer. I am doing that as I am buying a portable A/C unit for the interim.

Gifts This Year

Kit Kat was at home this weekend. So we took advantage and celebrated my birthday. I got a load of gifts. As usual, I got some T-shirts that I love. The theme this year was Marvel comic book characters.

Only my brother seems to put a label on the gifts. That way I know who it is from. Luckily I spotted one of the gifts from my bro was not actually for me. He took it back and returned with my gift.

One gift was a custom one from Little Kat. It was a decoration made from wood. Seems he recently stained the thing. So I need to air it out. But I expect that I will put it on my computer desk.

I do have a heads-up that I will be receiving at least one more big gift this year. Seems it will be coming to a store near me next month. More on that later.

Air Conditioner Trouble

It is started to get warm due to the spring weather. We turned the window air conditioning unit on in our master bedroom. It made a strange sound and did not produce any cold air. Leaving it on just seemed to cause the circuit breaker to trip.

I called up my handyman. He said he probably could not fix any internal problems in the unit. He recommended I call the manufacturer. Finally got around to calling the manufacturer. They don't have anybody to open up the unit and diagnose the problem either. They said they would just replace the whole unit.

Now I just need to get my replacement A/C, and have my handyman get it installed. Need to hurry up as the weather keeps getting hotter. If this replacement does not last, time for a different manufacturer. The weird thing is that Kit Kat and Little Kat have A/C units in their room from the same manufacturer. No problem with their units.

My Fair Lady

On Friday, Little Kat drove us up to Kit Kat's dorm. We picked her up. Then we headed up to a state North of us. Little Kat could not seem to follow his own GPS. So we got a bit lost after Kit Kat's dorm. We arrived early at our hotel and waited to check in. The hotel seemed to be pet friendly and we saw a bunch of dogs.Kit Kat had to study Friday night so we did not go out.

Saturday morning we went to a restaurant on main street for breakfast. Prices were low and portions generous. The we headed to an outlet mall. I went in to a couple stores. But I ended up driving the family around the mall. It was a huge outdoor one that almost required a dedicated driver. Back at the hotel, Little Kat went to the linen closet to fetch us fresh bath towels.

At night we went to the dinner theater. Momoko picked up our tickets from the box office. We hit the buffet early. Entrees included prime rib, hush puppy coated fish, chicken marsala, and lasagna. They offered us chicken soup as an appetizer. Kit Kat got a drink with liquor in it. The family purchased some drink glasses.

The play was My Fair Lady. I did not like the British accents or the singing. There were some funny scenes and one-liners, especially from Mister Higgins. I think he stole the show. The first act was really long. Luckily the second act sped by. We snuck out a side door afterwards and got on the road quickly.

The next morning was breakfast at Friendly's. Then Kit Kat drove us back to her dorm, and Little Kat drove us home. Easter dinner turned out to be McDonalds because I was too tired to go to Dennys.

Visiting our Cousin at Spring Break

Just got off a one week trip to go see my cousin. Momoko needed my car to put hers in the shop. So my brother drove. Closed toll plaza lanes on the way up delayed our arrival. I did finally get some time to see movies - Ghost in the Shell, Power Rangers, and Logan.

We had a movie mishap. Fandango said Power Rangers opened at 10:00 am. However the theater was closed. We returned before lunch and a security guard would not let us drive to the theater - seems a smoke alarm had been triggered. That did not stop us though. We saw out movie late.

We had lunch woes. The shop with the best tasting subs was closed due to a baby birth. Another famous hot dog restaurant was closed. We eventually found a good restaurant with great specials that including salad and pie. Ate there twice.

My cousin got confused and thought we were coming up next week. He also had his Ford F-150 clutch die one day at work. We hung out with him late almost every night. We were going to visit a casino after visiting my cousin, but we decided to just stay with my cousin instead.

Japanese Drama on Netflix

Momoko told me she started watching a K-drama series on Netflix. This is nothing new. Kit Kat seems to have watched many such series. Momoko got hooked. I could not help seeing some of the episodes. As soon as the character started speaking, I realized they were Japanese, not Korean. So this is actually a J-drama.

I caught the action in the middle of the series. Apparently main character Nao could not get into the dorms for school. So she rented an apartment. Unfortunately the landlord rented the same apartment to a very popular good looking guy from school too. Now the other girls are mad at Nao that she knows this guy.

These two are destined to fall in love. Right now they pretend to be in a relationship to help explain why they are close. Nao's best friend encourages her to go for it. Other friends who know and like Nao are not happy as they want to date Nao too. Thus drama.
