Big TV and Parking Exercises

Last night I looked through all the ads in the paper. The cheapest 50 inch TV was going for $599. That was just a little too expensive. When we bought ours, we paid $499. Momoko told me to go ahead and pay the extra $100. No way.

I did some googling around. Online TVs seemed just as expensive. Then for kicks I did a search at Sears. That's where I bought the last TV. For some reason Sears did not have an ad in the paper today. Lo and behold, they had a 50 inch TV on sale for $499. Yes. I snuck out of work at lunch and bought the thing.

After work I was scheduled to help Kit Kat practice her parking. We drove to a local park. The parking lot of was empty. No obstacles. So we drove back home and picked up some trash cans to simulate cars on the left and right. We practiced backing into a parking space. Then we did some pulling into the parking place.

Gun Paint Fail

Little Kat has a toy rifle he picked up a few years ago. He got it while we were on vacation. The thing is made of wood. But it started to break apart. The paint on it is also messed up.

Little Kat and I bought some Gorilla glue and brown spray paint. Little Kat was able to use the glue to secure the gun. Today we planned to paint the thing. We spread old newspaper over our patio. A bunch of rocks held the paper down to prevent the wind from moving it.

Little Kat started spraying the brown paint on the gun. The blast from the spray paint can made the newspaper fly up. I moved the rocks to surround the gun. We painted both side. Later when we went to get the gun, we found the outside newpaper had blown up and covered the gun. Fail. Little Kat had to repaint that side of the gun. We have now secured all sides of the newpaper.

Fire Starting

We just got all this firewood. So Little Kat was itching to build a fire in our fireplace. We chose three pieces of wood off our patio.

We got the area around the fireplace clean. Little Kat put the logs in, crumpled up some newspaper, and lit it up. Nothing happpened. The newspaper burned and went out. He tried again. Still a fail.

Finally Little Kat started putting more and more paper in the fire. Then he broke down a cardboard box and put it in. He kept putting more newspaper in. He added some kindling sticks from the ground outside. No luck.

I jumped in and put newspaper in like crazy. Kit Kat opened the window and brought up a fan to get oxygen. Finally after an hour or so, the fire was lit. There has to be a better way. Momoko recommends Duraflame logs.

Getting Little Kat

Today Momoko informed me I would need to pick up Little Kat from school. Normally I have to work late every night to keep up with all the work. But I told everyone I had to leave early today. I kept a close eye on the clock. I was not too ambitious with my work. Priority 1 was to leave on time to get Little Kat.

Traffic was good. I got to the school early. So I broke out the newspaper and read all the headlines. By the time I was done and went over to Little Kat's school, I was still 5 minutes early. Good timing!

They let the kindergartner's out of class first. They get escorted to the buses. I guess they don't want the real little ones getting lost in the commotion. It was good to hear the announcement that "walkers" were being released. That meant Little Kat. I saw him shortly after that. We even beat Kit Kat home. That's a first. Now it is time for us to do our housework. Hurry home Momoko.

Parade Magazine has Landed

Yesterday I had to stay very late at work. So today I made sure I got off early to make up. When I got home, I did not find Momoko there. Today is the day we get a lot of newspapers delivered to the house. There is one city paper, and two local town papers. I decided to read one of the town papers.

The strange thing was that there were many inserts in the town paper. I guess when times are tough, the stores advertise. The most interesting insert was a copy of Parade Magazine. Normally we get that in our paid city paper. Now it seems we also receive a copy in the free town paper. Perhaps our paper is growing up.

When Momoko finally did come home, she had a salad for me to snack on. Yum yum. Thanks Momoko.
