Working at School

Momoko has been getting her classroom ready for the upcoming school year. There are some jobs she cannot do. That makes them a job for Black Cat.

Now I cannot skip my own job. So I get up early and head to Momoko's classroom. Yesterday I moved a bunch of boxes from being stacked too high. Then I put up some posters very high on the blinds. That is hard because there is not much room on the ledge to stand on.

The biggest win was when I helped unclog Momoko's classroom sink. I got this new super plunger in the mail from a catalog. The thing looked funny. It was small and made of plastic. But it worked like a charm. It pulled up a pen out of Momoko's sink. She got close to the sink and whoops. She was drenched with a bunch of water and gunk that came flying out of the sink.

I went back this morning to Momoko's classroom to help again. Put up some background paper on the walls. Moved some more boxes. Hung some posters. Today I did not get any breakfast. So I got tired real quick. Then I went to my own job for a long day of work. That means it is time for a nap now.

An IKEA Weekend

The vanity in the kids bathroom is falling apart. That is no good because that is the most used bathroom in the house. I got a contractor to come in and price a replacement. Momoko wanted to pick out her own sink. She said she saw something cool at IKEA, the furnishings store from Sweden. So Momoko and I went there this weekend.

IKEA wants to take care of you while you shop. They have extensive child care, as well as a big cafeteria. Momoko and I both had their 99 cent breakfast. We added all you can drink sodas for an additional 65 cents. That was good. Then we went to the bathroom section of the store.

We could not find the exact sink Momoko saw in the catalog. Their vanities also look like they only fit non-standard faucets. I am very particular about the type of faucet I buy. It must be a brushed nickel surface. And it must have a tall spout that is not too close to the edge of the sink. So I think IKEA will be a no go for our vanity.

We did see some nice clothing storage options. Momoko has a broke down mini dresser that is not meeting her needs. Only thing we need to figure out is whether the closet sized storage furniture will fit in our bedroom. Momoko did pick up a bunch of finger puppets at IKEA. On a totally separate note, you must see this video I found describing what pwned means.

Plumber Power

Momoko told me the sink in the kids bathroom was getting slow to drain. Normally I would call the plumber. But we are trying to be scrappy. When the plumber visits, he charges $100. No can do.

I ordered some long pipe cleaner looking tools. Then Kit Kat and I hit the sink. She said she did not need any gloves. I put on some latex gloves for protection. Kit Kat put the pipes down the sink.

Now I thought we would find tons of hair. Don't get me wrong. There was some hair. But there was also a lot of sludge or something down there. And I had to clean off the pipe each time Kit Kat dug for treasure. Those gloves came in handy.

By the time we were done, we could run the hot and cold water at full blast. All the water flowed down the drain and did not back up. Plumber charge avoided. Kit Kat and I will have another adventure this weekend. All I can say is that there is something nasty about the windows in her bedroom.
