More Tennis

Kit Kat and I were waiting for Momoko and Little Kat to get home today. We were scheduled to play tennis at 5:00PM. We needed to be on time so we could successfully watch Glee on TV tonight. Momoko did not show up until 5:30PM.

Then Momoko informed us that she was too busy today. She needed to grade some papers. Kit Kat has not been doing enough grading for Momoko. So we left without her. Kit Kat did the driving.

There was nobody at the park as usual. We started in the far tennis court. However the balls kept flying over the fence. We then moved to the near court. Little Kat had a couple good ball returns once he moved onto Kit Kat's side of the net. Kit Kat had some trouble when the tennis ball came right at her. Got to remember to send the tennis ball a little to the right of her for a good return.

Close Call

Today I made sure I left work in time. We had scheduled to go play tennis again at the local park. Momoko and Little Kat were a bit late from school. However we were able to visit the park. Kit Kat drove us there. The courts were empty.

This time we were on the real tennis courts. Little Kat had some problems getting the ball to go over the tennis net. Kit Kat, on the other hand, was smacking the ball over the high fences on the side. Both Kit Kat and Momoko spent some time playing tennis against themselves by hitting the ball against a board on the side of the fence. It was kind of like Forrest Gump, except they did not have Forrest Gump skills.

Momoko talked us into playing doubles tennis. We are not quite ready for that yet. Got to work on serving and returning a serve first. When we got home, Kit Kat and Little Kat teamed up to cook us some pasta Alfredo with meatballs. Kit Kat almost burned the garlic bread. Luckily I reminded her that we needed that bread, and she ran to the over to pull out some crisp slices.

Shed Time

It is finally time. I saved up some money. And now I want to get us a new shed. We have a trusty metal small shed. There are some holes that let rain and mice inside. The real problem with it is that it is not tall enough. I have to hunch down to get inside. If I stand up inside, I bang my head on the roof. No fun.

We have one other problem. The place where we want the shed is inside our fence and on a hill. So we cannot have somebody drive up a pre-built shed and drop it off. The fence is in the way. We also need some type of custom technique to level the new shed we get.

I guess we could build the shed ourselves. But that would be no fun. Momoko wants one that has a work bench inside. I would like it to have a garage door on the front. But the main thing I need is a tall door, and an even taller roof inside. Would be nice to have real wood shingles. And hey. It would be great if the shed could having some siding. Momoko said she would pitch in to buy the thing. We should be set.

On Vacation

Today was my last day at work before my vacation. I get off a week before Momoko and the kids. I don't think there will be a lot of lounging around. There are too many things to do around the house.

I first plan to work on the fence that is falling apart. Got to cut and nail some new pickets on there. Then I must deal with the wall paper peeling off the bathroom wall.

By the time I wrap up my work on the house, it will be time to take a small trip to the beach with the family. Momoko is taking off the last day of school so we can spend it at the beach.

Home Shopping Weekend

Momoko's real estate agent came back from vacation today. So we went out to look for houses. The first one was in our current city. It was only two levels. The master bedroom had just a shower. I want a nice bath in there. So that, combined with the fact that it was small meant that it was out.

Next we visited a house close to Momoko's school. I liked the separate tub and shower in the master bedroom. The tub was shallow but big big big. There was a sign on the stairs inside saying we had to take our shoes off to go upstairs. Weird. The basement did not flow well. And the back yard was sloped down toward the house. Although the back yard was fenced, the fence was wobbly and even falling down at points. This house was also out.

Finally we returned to an older house that we had seen before. It still had a tree blocking the entrance. The agent initially forgot the code to unlock the key. However Little Kat tried the front door and found it open! This house was huge. The basement had a great sized room with huge built in bookshelves. The kitchen was large. There was a deck over top of a big garage. The top level had massive bedrooms. The only thing I hated was the steep hills on all sides of the house. I don't want to mow that grass. Momoko found a lot of work required on the inside as well. This house is still a maybe.

Next I am going to have my agent figure out how much I can expect to sell our house for. That might decide whether we can even afford to move and get another house.

Fence Troubles

Yesterday the kittens were outside and playing in the snow. I heard Little scream, "Mom, we broke the door!" The first thing that crossed my mine was that they had destroyed my car door. I soon realized they were talking about the gate. I asked them see if they could fix it and they said "No, we do not know how to fix concrete!" They were still a little nervous because they did not want Black to be mad at them. I called Black at work to give him the bad news. Apparently, he already knew there was a problem with the fence and was not surprised or even upset. The kittens were relieved. When Black got home, we looked at the gate and decided that we need to save up to fix the problem correctly. Until then we will not use the gate, so Black hung the gate back up and I painted a sign that reads "No Entry!" We will put it on the fence today.

LOLcats

There is some new movement called LOLcats. Apparently it hinges around pictures of cats with funny sayings. The official site is something like "I Can Has Cheezburgers".

In other news, Little Kat talked Kit Kat into sleeping out in the tent tonight. They still have the tent pitched in the back yard. It is a little cold out. However they are getting practice in for our trip next week to go camping with the Boy Scouts.

The fence on one side of our yard is falling apart due to rot or termites. I want to replace it with a vinyl fence. But that is going to require us to save up for it. So right now I am bracing the fence with some new pressure treated wood. Let's hope it holds up.

Brush Clearing

Now that I got the guys to find out exactly where my yard property lines are, I am read to clear a way for the fence. The area behind our house is a wooded forest. Now I am not ready to cut down any huge trees. But I figure I can chop down any small brush that I encounter.

I do want to exercise some caution. You never know what kind of critters are hanging out in the forest. It could be some deer, or a fox, and more likely snakes. But hey. It might even be some evil dog. I might have to go out there prepared to encounter any kind of predator.

Ok. Now its time to start chopping. Ooops. It is already dark. I do not trust the wild forest when the sun is not shining. I guess I have to save this task for another day. Long live our fence.
