Sonic is Supposed to be Fast

Last night I set an alarm for 8am to ensure we checked out of the hotel in time. It was not needed. I woke up after 6am. Played some games in the morning. Woke Little Kat up at 8am. Tried to call Momoko. Could not get a signal. After I rebooted my phone, I found Momoko called me last night.

Little Kat and I were ready in about 30 minutes. We loaded our stuff in the car. Then we waited until Kit Kat and Momoko were ready. We helped them carry their stuff downstairs. Momoko and I checked out of the hotel. Seems they gave us the last night free on both rooms. Woo hoo.

Momoko drove us home since Kit Kat was still stick. Momoko showed Kit Kat how to exit the city from the hotel Kit Kat plans to visit this summer. It was a long drive until we hit Sonic. We were famished. Little Kat and I went outside to sit on at the outdoor tables. However it was too cold for Little Kat. We went back in the car when the food arrived.

Service at this Sonic was slow. Then Momoko placed a second order for some extra frieds. She had to dial up the attendant to get them to deliver the fries. Kit Kat's friend had bought in the few free newspapers that arrived this week. The mail truck came with a box of mail, along with a few packages.

Some of the gerbils got into a fight. They were not mortally wounded. Kit Kat is spending tonight over her friends' house.

Heat Wave

Kit Kat's alarm did not go off on Saturday morning. Luckily Momoko had a backup alarm set. Kit Kat said she did not sleep all night. Everybody was tired. We made the drive onto campus like we practiced the night before. Then we walked to registration. The had a continental breakfast in the campus theater. An admissions guy with great public speaking skills spoke at the beginning of open house.

Next we took a walk to the building where the pre-vet department would be. Kit Kat said she was not feeling well. She was worried because the admissions guy said you needed two years of foreign language, of which sign language did not count. Kit Kat wanted to bolt.

I did not drive a couple hours and commit my weekend for us to just go home. So I brought Kit Kat to the pre-vet professor. We quizzed him on why his university was better than any other one that offered a pre-vet program. Next we were supposed to go on a tour. But Momoko and Kit Kat refused. They were too hot due to the heat wave. This trip was not going well. To be continued.

Laundry Fail Again

This week I had a large amount of laundry to wash. Had a lot of work to do, and work clothes add up in the hamper. Momoko also needed her clothes washed. Little Kat has that job.

We had Little Kat do the laundry first because I stay up late. I told Little Kat to set a timer to make sure the laundry he was doing got done. He used his iPhone for the timer. I checked up on Little Kat and he said he got this.

A few hours later I asked Little Kat if he was done with the laundry. I needed to get started. He told me he forgot, and that he must not have heard his alarm. Then I found out that the clothes never made it to the dryer. These clothes were just not getting done that night.

Now Little Kat is in trouble. Momoko is cooking up some plans to help Little Kat stay on task for laundry and other work. If not, Little Kat will just have to stay in the laundry room until the laundry is done. Harsh. But it will work.

Big Screen TV

On Thanksgiving I woke up at 6:00 am. I heard Little Kat's alarm go off. He must have forgotten to turn off his school alarm. That's ok. I needed to get up anyway. I got in the truck and drove North to Sears. Got there at 6:50am. There were people already waiting outside the doors.

I figured it was cold outside. So I thought I would wait in the car until 6:58 or 6:59 before getting out. There were already a lot of people there. If I got out immediately, it would do not good. I was shocked as the Sears employees opened the doors at 6:55am.

People all seemed to head towards the electronics department where I wanted to go. I got out of the truck and ran to the front doors. Other people were waiting in their cars like me and I needed to beat them. Once inside I saw a sales associate chatting with a customer. I gave the customer the evil eye and he left. Yes.

The salesman sold me a 50 inch Zenith plasma TV for $499. I've been watching the prices on these TVs for about a year. They seemed to hover between $599 and $699. I did see an inferior one go on sale for $550 once. I bought a better one for $499. I ran out and drove to the merchandise pickup. The thing fit in the back of my truck (barely). When I got home, I used the dolly to wheel the thing into the living room. Nobody was up yet. I figured I would wait for Little Kat to wake up before opening the thing. He was just as excited as I was about getting a big screen TV.

Late For School

Early this morning, I heard Kit Kat talking on her phone upstairs. This was disturbing as I was still asleep. But the phone conversation woke me a bit. Then Kit Kat knocked on my bedroom door. She overslept and needed a ride to school.

What happened was that Kit Kat's friend noticed Kit Kat missed the bus and called her up. Good thing the friend did this. That call was the wake up call for Kit Kat. She either forgot to set her alarm, or slept through it.

I got ready as soon as I could. We hit a little traffic on the ride to school. However Kit Kat was still a few minutes late to first period. I on the other hand was very early for work. It is good to keep the coworkers guessing about my arrival time.

Stick in the Ground

Little Kat's alarm woke me up this morning. He must have set it for the wrong time. I ended up going to work early. This enabled me to come home early as well. I was the first one home.

When the leaves started falling from the trees, I was ambitious with collecting them and bagging them. Lately I have been a little slow in collecting the leaves. So today I decided to go out and pick up the leaves.

This is when I found something strange in the yard. There were sticks that were point straight up from the ground. It seemed unnatural. Was Little Kat or some of his friend's trying to plant a new tree? Or maybe, just maybe, the things fell down form the tree and plunged straight into the ground. It still seems unlikely.

Power Outage

I woke up very early this morning. My cat senses told me something was wrong. Then I saw the problem. The alarm clock was off. I flipped the light switch. Yep. We had a power outage. Luckily the hot water is done by gas and not electric. The gas was still working.

So I called the electric company. A message said the outage was already reported. However it would be a few hours before it would be restored. I decided to go in early to work. The local McDonald's had power. I figured a Sausage McMuffin was in order.

When I got home, the power had been restored. The house was cool. So the power was not out long enough for the house to heat up too bad. The only regret I have is that the answering machine seems to have burned out. We just replaced this darn machine recently too.

Alarming Situation

I recently got an iPod touch.  I am really not an avid ipod user.  When I got the gizmo, Little Kat and Kit had to show me how to use it.  I think Little knows more about it than I do.  Funny how that works.

Well, I decided to use my iPod as a back up alarm when I was out of town last week.  I found out that it does not work if the system is powered down.

Kit told me that she used her iPod as an alarm all the time and I figured I was doing something wrong.  As we were waiting for the kitten's flight at the airport yesterday, Kit set the alarm for me to show me how it worked.  We got to talking and forgot all about it.  It was suppose to go off at 7:45 am, the exact time their flight was leaving.  It did not work.

However, this morning at the hotel it was working perfectly.  Seems that I had it plugged into my computer, "charging".  All I know is that is a heck of a way to be awaken.  Black and I thought the front desk was calling but no, it was my ipod alarm.  It nearly gave us a heart attack!  Thanks Kit for setting the ipod to go off at the crack of dawn (7:45 am) without our knowing!!  Either you are an evil genius or a lucky teenager.  I love you.  Don't worry I disabled the alarm and I hope to have a restful sleep tomorrow...or will I?
