Lessons from Red Dawn +1

Today my bro came over and we watched Red Dawn. Not the original one. This is the updated one from last year. North Koreans have invaded the USA. The story focuses on a bunch of kids that put up a guerrila warfare fight against the invaders. I found the film both entertaining and educational at the same time. You can learn a lot from these kids if you are ever in a similar situation.

The first advantage was to have a hideout far away from civilization. This started out as the cabin in the woods. Later when the cabin was compromised, they used some underground cave that they found.

Second you need items stashed in your hideout. There must be some food. And there should be some weapons and ammo. If you have the weaponry and know how to use it, you can also hunt to create more food.

Third you need some training. Know how to use your weapons. Know hand to hand combat. Be healthy and ready to fight and run. Life will be hard when you are in the resistance. Your body has to be ready to respond.

Finally when you are staging an attack or executing a retreat, you need multiple points of escape from any situation. The escape needs to be set up and rehearsed ahead of time. You never know when your front down will get blown to pieces.

Hats off to the underground heroes known as the Wolverines in Red Dawn.
